I am here to take you back,
All the way black to the future.
Close your eyes and imagine a future—
That’s what we live for.
More than just seeing the next day,
We live for more.
It’s the feeling you get when someone sees you—
Not the awkward hypervisibility,
Just enough to energize you,
A reminder of exactly who you are.
But amplified.
A reminder that though your journey is uniquely yours,
The experience, the emotions, remain the same.
Most importantly, that it’s worth it.
You see reflections of home,
Not always present, but always familiar.
And in that moment, you belong.
Every curve and crevice, embraced or left untouched,
A canvas for the stories our clothes tell.
It’s the confidence to walk in your own shoes,
Not burdened by the weight of the past,
But standing taller—stronger—because you have overcome.
A tribute to Black bodies and Black minds,
150 years at Bucknell,
And counting.
Cheers 🥂
