This semester brought about a wonderful day of international and cultural celebration on campus with the International festival. Both Bucknellians and Lewisburg locals came together to appreciate the hub of diversity that exists within our community.
Seeing that the weekend also doubled as the semester’s family weekend, there were also a number of Bucknellian families present at the event. The International Festival began with an introduction from Mayor Alvarez and Provost Wendy Sternberg, followed by a few short words by Global Student Council (GSC) President Omid Mohammadi ’25.
My favorite part of the day was seeing our international students and representatives proudly carrying their countries flags as they marched from Vedder Hall to Hufnagle Park. Other special activities at the event included building an Eiffel Tower out of marshmallows and bamboo skewers, creating your own camel, painting a cherry blossom tree and petting adorable an animals such as alpacas.
After cultural performances performed by Bucknell students and the global walk, festivities concluded with visits to multiple food trucks downtown, where people got to experience both diverse cultural foods while also indulging in Lewisburg delights.
