Amir Issa Q&A

On Friday, November 9th, the Italian Department, in cooperation with the Griot Institute, hosted Amir Issaa on campus for a Q&A session. Amir Issa is an Italian Hip-hop rapper, writer, and activist. During the talk, Amir spoke about his childhood and what influenced his type of music. According to Amir, his passion for hip-hop allows him not to feel the emotional distress caused by the legal troubles of his father, who was incarcerated when he was still a child. Rap became a positive relief valve, and thanks to it, he has been able to tell his personal stories to the rest of the world.

The section brought together students and faculties both from the Italian department and others. The room was filled with silence as Amir explained about his journey as a child of an immigrant into music. It was truly an inspiring event. The event ended with a wonderful concert, and people who attended said it was wonderful.
